200 Muslim Women Who Care Announce Florida Justice Center as Recipient of Giving Circle Grant

Tampa Bay group interested in social justice causes makes generous donation to legal nonprofit organization.

Oakland Park, FL (October 8, 2020) —

The Florida Justice Center is proud to announce they were chosen as one of three charitable organizations supported by 200 Muslim Women Who Care during their most recent membership meeting.  200 Muslim Women Who Care is a group of social Muslim women who support local charities and groups doing work in Tampa Bay. On Tuesday night, FLJC was presented with a check for $1,000 by the leadership of 200 MWWC in a virtual meeting.

“We believe our community can be best served by the participation of everyone,” said Dyma AbuOleim, president of 200MWWC. “FLJC is an organization that helps give people a second chance. Supporting those who have been incarcerated back into the community, not only helps us build stronger ties to each other, but also to flourish as one.”

200MWWC is dedicated to motivating women to improve their local communities by supporting local organizations and initiatives that impact all of humanity. Every quarter, members pitch in a pre-specified amount which then is combined into their Giving Circle charity fund. They choose three charities to support after a careful presentation and screening to make sure each charity maintains high reputable and ethical standards. Past charities they supported include Autism Awareness Shop, Are You Safe?, and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

Marie Torossian, Treasurer of FLJC, presented the FLJC’s work in Tampa Bay to the organization in late August to be one of their grant recipients. After careful deliberation, FLJC was one of three organizations chosen as finalists for 200MWWC’s Giving Circle. FLJC was originally nominated because of its commitment to supporting social justice protestors and giving returning citizens a second chance.

“It’s an honor to receive such a generous gift,” said Jonathan Bleiweiss, Executive Director of FLJC. “We are committed to extending our services and giving people a second chance throughout Florida.”

FLJC has helped many people throughout Florida. In an effort to honor the 200 MWWC and their community, the grant will be used to help continue their work in the Tampa Bay area and expand services in the future.
