FLJC and Trulieve to Host Community Legal Clinic in Hillsborough County

Legal aid organization will be providing free services to the Tampa Bay community on April 2, 2022 from 10am to 4pm at Temple Terrace United Methodist Church.

Tampa, FL (March 28, 2022) –

Following the overwhelming success of their last clinic in St. Petersburg on February 26, 2022, Florida Justice Center and Trulieve announced today another free legal event in Tampa Bay, this time in Tampa on April 2nd. Open to the public, the purpose of this event is to help individuals overcome legal barriers, with a focus on those who have had criminal justice system involvement.

Approximately 1 in 3 adults have an arrest record. Tens of thousands of people from Tampa cannot vote because of outstanding fines and fees. Over 85,000 people in Hillsborough County currently have a suspended driver license. FLJC aims to address these issues with a free community legal clinic at Temple Terrace United Methodist Church at 5030 E. Busch Blvd, Tampa, FL 33617 from 10am to 4pm on April 2, 2022.

The event will offer a wide variety of FREE services to help individuals with a multitude of barriers to success. Community members will be provided free legal assistance with issues such as:

  • Reinstating suspended driver licenses
  • Arrest record sealing and expungement
  • Assistance with fines and fees
  • Clemency (including pardons, ability to hold public office, and restoration of firearms rights)
  • Early termination of probation
  • Technical probation violations
  • Voting rights restoration
  • Voter registration
  • …and more!

“We are excited to continue our partnership with Trulieve to help underserved neighborhoods gain access to justice. We know that the war on drugs has decimated communities of color and exacerbated already difficult financial situations. Florida Justice Center is here to help give those residents a second chance,” said FLJC Executive Director Jonathan Bleiweiss.

Community members are welcome to walk-in at any time during the event to meet with a lawyer or can pre-register and learn more at www.FLJC.org/Hills
