Belen Enriquez Joins Florida Justice Center Board of Directors

Legal aid organization welcomes renowned criminal justice reform advocate, law office director, writer, prison consultant, and justice-impacted leader to board of directors.

Oakland Park, FL (February 7, 2023) –

Florida Justice Center announced today the addition of Belen Enriquez, MBA to its board of directors. Belen brings to Florida Justice Center (FLJC) vast experience in federal legal matters, prison reentry, and criminal legal system reform. As an outspoken advocate for women both in and out of prison, Belen has dedicated herself to improving carceral conditions, increasing the number and quality of services accessible to the incarcerated, and providing a meaningful path to reentry.

As a formerly incarcerated individual, Belen brings her unique lived experience and academic, entrepreneurial, and corporate background to enhance the organization’s development opportunities and programmatic offerings, focusing on recovery, reentry, and collateral consequences.

“I am excited about joining the Florida Justice Center’s Board of Directors. I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members and the leadership team to advance the organization’s extraordinary initiatives to benefit those the criminal legal system has impacted. I am also eager to build the necessary synergies with other organizations and government partners to enhance the reentry opportunities of those transitioning from correctional facilities to society,” said Belen Enriquez.

Guided by Glenn E. Martin‘s saying that “people closest to the problem are closest to the solution, but furthest from power and resources,” and in recognition of the importance of having people in decision-making roles that are representative of its clients, FLJC is excited to now have two justice-impacted people in leadership positions: Belen Enriquez, MBA and Jonathan Bleiweiss, MBA.

“I am proud to have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Belen on the front lines in the fight for criminal justice reform for several years now. Belen has been there, and she has returned stronger and with the drive to create individual and systemic change for some of society’s most marginalized people. She is motivated by personal experience and that is something to which I can relate,” said FLJC Executive Director Jonathan Bleiweiss.
