Steven Mitchel has been a “front line” trial attorney for more than thirty-five years and is the Managing Partner of Mintzer Sarowitz Zeris Ledva & Meyers, LLP’s Florida practice. During his career, Steve has tried more than fifty cases to verdict in state and federal courts throughout the State of Florida and in many other parts of the country. His practice includes complex cases involving catastrophic injuries and/or high exposure damages. In addition to his practice, beginning in the late 1990’s, Steve served an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching Trial Advocacy to upper class law students at the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University. He has also taught trial skills to practicing attorneys through the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (“NITA”). For several years, he acted as a Special Master appointed by the Palm Beach County Commission and adjudicated disputes relating to ordinance violations. Based on his background and experience, Steve is frequently asked to speak at conferences and webinars on legal issues.
Recognizing that business owners and their carriers are faced with extraordinary challenges including exaggerated claims, runaway verdicts and overzealous attorneys, Steven Mitchel provides our clients with cost effective solutions combined with a willingness and ability to successfully try their cases in a courtroom. Steve believes in maintaining a close partnership with his clients and their carriers founded on dependable communications, accurate case evaluations, and collaborative team effort. When settlement is the right course of action, he will recommend it early and will procure resolution on the most favorable terms possible. However, when trial is necessary to protect clients from unreasonable or unscrupulous demands, Steve and his team stand ready to provide a first class, cutting-edge presentation to a judge or jury.
Steve is passionate about giving back to his community wherever possible. He created and leads his firms MSZLMcares program that focuses on its charitable endeavors.
He shares the Florida Justice Center’s core values of serving low-income communities and providing access to justice for those who cannot afford it. He is especially interested in working on voting rights issues.
