Alex Saiz Named 40 under 40 by Miami-Dade Bar Young Lawyers Section

Florida Justice Center’s Director of Legal Services recognized for a decade of public service and contributions to the Miami legal community.

Coral Gables, FL (February 9, 2023) –

Alex Saiz started his legal career in public service. Fresh out of law school, he joined the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office under the leadership of Carlos Martinez. Since then, he has worked as a criminal defense and immigration attorney in private practice, as regional conflict counsel, and since 2020, as the Director of Legal Services at Florida Justice Center. In recognition of a decade of public service in the legal field, Alex was honored by the Miami-Dade Bar Young Lawyers Section by being named one of 2023’s 40 under 40.

2022 was a banner year for Alex. Not only did he oversee over 6,000 client services at Florida Justice Center, but he joined the Office of Regional Conflict Counsel, served as guardian ad litem in numerous cases, represented 50 people in criminal and immigration proceedings, worked at 22 community events throughout the state, and even played the part of Santa Claus at a toy giveaway for children with an incarcerated parent.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Miami-Dade Bar Young Lawyers Section and to share this honor with so many tremendous attorneys. I consider this not just a personal honor, but recognition of the important work of the Florida Justice Center as a whole. I am very proud of the work that this organization performs and would not be receiving this attention if not for the support of our entire team.”

To honor his accomplishments and selflessness, Alex will be presented this distinguished award at sold-out Miami Nights on February 23, 2023, at 5:30pm at the Coral Gables Museum.

“Alex is the most giving and empathetic person I know. His generosity and kindness knows no bounds. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award,” said Jonathan Bleiweiss, Florida Justice Center’s Executive Director.
